— NYC Commercial Abatement Contractor

One Contractor for Your Environmental Scope

On a commercial project in New York City, asbestos, lead, mold, hazardous materials and demolition are rarely separate problems. A building survey finds one, a demolition scope exposes another, and a water event creates a third. Managing each with a different contractor means different schedules, different paperwork and no single owner when something slips.

CRE handles the full environmental scope. Asbestos work in NYC runs through DEP’s Asbestos Control Program and state licensing; lead is governed by OSHA and EPA rules; commercial mold falls under New York State Labor Law Article 32; demolition touches the Department of Buildings. We know where each rule starts and stops, and we sequence the work so one step doesn’t hold up the next.

— Asbestos

Asbestos Abatement in NYC

Asbestos was used in New York buildings for decades — in floor tile and mastic, pipe and boiler insulation, ceiling plaster, fireproofing and roofing. Before renovation or demolition disturbs it, NYC expects a survey, a licensed abatement contractor, DEP notification and independent air monitoring. CRE manages the full sequence, from survey coordination through clearance and closeout filings.

— Lead paint

Lead Paint Abatement in NYC

Lead-based paint remains in many pre-1978 commercial and institutional buildings, and it becomes a hazard the moment renovation, demolition or deterioration puts dust in the air. We perform lead hazard removal and encapsulation with containment, HEPA cleanup and clearance testing, following OSHA requirements and EPA lead-safe rules where they apply.

— Demolition

Interior Demolition in NYC

Selective and full interior demolition — office strip-outs, gut renovations and pre-renovation teardowns — performed with the hazardous-materials question already answered. We coordinate surveys and abatement first, then remove partitions, ceilings, flooring and systems on your schedule and hand your GC a clean, safe site.

Hazardous Material Removal in NYC

PCBs in older lighting ballasts and caulk, mercury-containing equipment, contaminated soil, chemical and petroleum residues, and other regulated materials. We handle characterization coordination, containment, packaging, manifesting and transport to permitted disposal facilities, and we deliver the paperwork that proves it.

— Mold

Commercial Mold Remediation in NYC

Commercial mold remediation after water events, leaks or chronic moisture — performed under a written protocol from an independent, licensed mold assessor, as New York State law requires on projects over 10 square feet. We contain, remove, HEPA-clean and support post-remediation verification so you can reoccupy with confidence.

Environmental Compliance Consulting in NYC

Environmental projects fail on sequencing and paperwork as often as on field work. Our compliance consulting covers pre-project environmental review, regulatory pathway planning, permit and filing coordination and closeout documentation, working with your architect, GC and project manager from day one.

Services FAQ

Can CRE handle asbestos abatement and demolition on the same project?
Yes. We sequence abatement first, then demolition, under one schedule and one point of contact, so your GC isn’t coordinating separate contractors and handoffs.
Testing and assessment are performed by independent, certified professionals — a DEP-certified asbestos investigator for asbestos, and a licensed assessor for mold. For mold, New York law keeps assessment separate from remediation; for asbestos it’s good practice and ensures independent clearance. We coordinate the work and act on the results.
Emergencies are answered 24/7. Planned abatement depends on notification and permit lead times; we schedule backward from your start date so those don’t delay your project.

Yes — Long Island, Westchester and Northern New Jersey, among other areas. Rules differ by jurisdiction, and we work to the one that governs your site.
