Commercial Reconstruction in Connecticut: What It Takes

In Connecticut, building permits and inspections come from the municipal building official, and any asbestos work that precedes the rebuild falls under the Department of Public Health’s licensing program. School and public projects add requirements of their own. We map the Connecticut pathway first and schedule backward from your reopening date.

Who Regulates the Work Before You Rebuild in Connecticut

In Connecticut, the Department of Public Health licenses asbestos contractors and consultants — inspectors, management planners, project designers and project monitors — and certifies supervisors and workers. Abatement involving more than three linear or three square feet must be performed by a licensed contractor using certified supervisors and workers, and a licensed project monitor performs post-abatement clearance.

School projects add a requirement: a licensed project designer is required for asbestos response actions in schools, except spot repairs. We map the Connecticut pathway first, then schedule backward from your start date.
